Some photos from the ice opener in Waterton

I tried ice climbing this past weekend at the ice opener with Jollin... There was a large-ish group of people including a number of first timers such as myself as part of an informally-organised 'ice opener' (ie, get out there and ice climb!) event.

That's J. in the top photo (I assure you, that is not a toy GI Joe on an icicle in my backyard!)

Great fun! But because of the large group, it felt kind of like skiing under the chairlift (only instead of thinking, Don't wipe out! Don't wipe out! It was more like, Please don't fall! Please don't fall! There was a fair group of 15-20 people, all really nice folks).

Kudos to the organizers for doing this year after year! Check out Chris Goble's Waterton Blogspot for more info on the ice opener http://waterton.blogspot.com/2011/11/2011-waterton-ice-opener.html
